Rental & Tenant law

Rental/tenant law

What exactly are the obligations of the tenant and the landlord? In practice, it appears that both tenants and landlords do not know exactly what their rights and obligations are to each other.

Dutch law states in a number of mandatory legal provisions how the tenant and landlord should act in certain situations. However, the legislation also partly consists of regulatory law and that often makes it difficult for tenants and landlords to estimate their legal position in disputes.

Often problems arise regarding notice periods, rental obligations, determining the level of the rent, maintenance defects, disruption of the rental enjoyment by or of (co-) tenants etc. For advice and possible procedures you can contact Bracke-Advocatuur.
